Man arrested over racist attack on taxi driver

A man has been arrested on suspicion assault after an attack on a taxi driver.

The incident took place close to Wall's Roundabout on Barnwood Road at around 21:35 BST on Monday.

The 62-year-old suspect was reportedly a passenger in the taxi, a black Skoda Fabia, and began arguing with the driver before grabbing him around the neck and punching him.

He was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault and non-fatal strangulation, and has been released on bail while enquiries take place.
